Eat and drink
New spots pop up all the time in Wellington and here are a few recent finds and old favourites that are worth a visit. Goldings Free Dive is still one of the best craft beer spots and conveniently located just off hip Cuba Street. Head to Pop Wellington on Willis Street for cocktails in the sun, or down to Foxglove on the waterfront for seaside wines. Looking for a rooftop spot? Dirty Little Secret overlooking Courtney Place is a great spot for a cold one or Amador is a cosy rooftop bar on Willis Street. In a first of hopefully many, Hiakai is Wellington’s only restaurant specialising in Māori cuisine - world-renowned chef Monique Fiso is playing a leading role in keeping Māori food culture alive. Need something sweet? Head to Goldie in Te Aro for great bubble tea, waffles and shakes - how does a cookie crumb, marshmallow, whipped cream, fudge sauce and pocky shake sound to you?
